Six-year-old chess prodigy Shamreen Suhail has delivered a standout performance at the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) Selection Tournament for the FIDE World Championship 2026 (Under-07 Girls category).

Competing against 40 of Sri Lanka's top Under-7 players, the young talent held her ground despite being just six years old. With a potential spot to represent Sri Lanka at the world stage in Spain on the line, Shamreen showcased exceptional focus and skill throughout the competition.

By the end of the grueling tournament, Shamreen wrapped up her campaign with an impressive 10th place overall finish, scoring 4.5 points out of 7 rounds. Her impressive top-10 result underlines her tremendous potential and marks an exciting milestone for the young star and her team, Shaeen Queens.

ஆறு வயதேயான இளம் சதுரங்க வீராங்கனை ஷம்றீன் சுஹைல், 2026 FIDE உலகச் சதுரங்கச் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் (7 வயதிற்குட்பட்ட பெண்களுக்கான பிரிவு) போட்டிக்கான இலங்கை சதுரங்கக் கூட்டமைப்பின் (CFSL) தெரிவு சுற்றுப்போட்டியில் மிகச்சிறந்த திறமையை வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார்.

ஸ்பெயினில் நடைபெறும் உலகச் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டியில் இலங்கையைப் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்தும் வாய்ப்பை இலக்காகக் கொண்டு நடைபெற்ற இப்போட்டியில், இலங்கை முழுவதிலும் உள்ள 7 வயதிற்குட்பட்ட சிறந்த 40 வீராங்கனைகளுடன் தனது 6 வயதிலேயே அவர் களம் கண்டார்.

தொடர் முழுவதும் சிறந்த உத்திகளையும் திறமையையும் வெளிப்படுத்திய ஷம்றீன் சுஹைல், 7 சுற்றுகளில் 4.5 புள்ளிகளைப் பெற்று ஒட்டுமொத்த தரவரிசையில் 10வது இடத்தைப் பிடித்து சாதனை படைத்துள்ளார். இச்சாதனை அவரது எதிர்கால சதுரங்கப் பயணத்திற்கும் 'Shaeen Queens' அணிக்கும் பெரும் பெருமையைச் சேர்த்துள்ளது.
